Synod 2021 – 2023:

For a synodal Church: communion, participation and mission

“Synodality starts with hearing from the whole People of God.
A Church that teaches must be firstly a Church that listens.

Consulting all members of the Church is vital because, as the Second Vatican Council reminded us, the faithful as a whole are anointed by the Holy Spirit…”
Pope Francis

Our Parish’s first step to be part of the Synod began on Sunday October 17 with a zoom gathering led by our Lay Pastoral Leader Joe Green.
The International Theological Commission has prepared a document on what a synod is. This brief presentation was a “gentle walk” through the key points of this document, prepared with the mandate of the Parish Council to help as our parish moves forward over the next six weeks.
We are keen to provide different ways for members of the Catholic Parish of Wellington South to participate in the 2021 Synod.

Your Baptism Calls

Pope Francis has called a Synod Assembly with the theme For a Synodal Church: communion, participation, and mission.
The word ‘synodality’ means “walking together”.  We, the People of God, are invited to reflect together on what this mutual journey means for us and for our Church.  This call is for every baptised person.
“The Holy Father wants to hear the voices of all the baptised. He believes the time is ripe for a wider participation of the people of God in a decision-making process that affects the whole Church and everyone in it.” (Cardinal John Dew)
