Catholic Parish of Wellington South<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Response to parish plan survey 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

Parishioners were surveyed as part of the parish planning process. 73 parishioners responded to the survey monkey, 4 sent in e mails, 1 put in a handwritten submission. 90% thought the plan was either \u2018somewhat realistic\u2019 or \u2018very realistic\u2019. In summary \u2013 there was overwhelming support for the plan to progress.<\/p>\n

The responses and comments were grouped into \u2018themes\u2019. This note summarises those themes (and includes those who thought the plan was not realistic). These in turn have been included within the redraft of the plan which is now with the Parish Council.<\/p>\n

Major themes<\/strong><\/p>\n

The major themes to emerge can be grouped under the heading \u2018connecting school and parish\u2019, \u2018cultural and ethnic diversity\u2019, \u2018biculturalism\/Maori\u2019 and \u2018Catholic Social Teaching\u2019.<\/p>\n

Secondary themes<\/strong><\/p>\n

The next major themes were \u2018Mass times\u2019, \u2018property\u2019 and \u2018collaborative ministry \u2013 lay\/ordained\u2019.<\/p>\n

Other themes<\/strong><\/p>\n

The following broadly outlines the other themes to emerge:<\/p>\n

\u2018Who is responsible for what?\u2019; St Bernard\u2019s rosters \u2013 too few people\u2019; \u2018developing prayer and contemplative life\u2019; \u2018aging parishioner demographic \u2013 energy to do anything?\u2019; \u2018building community \u2013 might be building a stronger community or belonging to a community\u2019; \u2018move the plan beyond one year\u2019; \u2018change \u201cperipheries\u201d to responding to need\u2019; \u2018change faith formation to faith and spiritual formation\u2019; \u2018youth, young people and families\u2019.<\/p>\n
