However it is the encounter\u00a0of Mary and Elizabeth that gives us the hope which emerges out of the reality\u00a0of our daily lives. Mary comes in haste. Maybe because she senses Elizabeth\u00a0may need her support, but probably because she needs Elizabeth\u2019s support too.\u00a0Mary would be trying to make sense of her \u201cYes\u201d to carrying the son of God,\u00a0and the impact that would have had on her parents, and husband to be.\u00a0Elizabeth after many years of being barren is pregnant, living with her husband\u00a0who cannot speak, was probably the subject of gossip and no doubt longing to\u00a0share with someone who would understand the place and meaning of God in\u00a0her pregnancy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Both Mary and Elizabeth, in the context of their daily lives believed in the\u00a0promise of God. On a deep level they recognised this in each other and from\u00a0that encounter emerged the Magnificat \u2013a revelation of God\u2019s greatest hope\u00a0\u2013 His Promise of Mercy, His raising of the lowly and His filling of the hungry with\u00a0good things. May our hearts too be open, in the context of our ordinary lives, to\u00a0revealing that hope in Wellington South. And may Suzanne Aubert be with us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Discerning the Hopes<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cMay your choices reflect your hopes not your Fears.\u201d \u00a0<em>Nelson Mandela<\/em><br \/>\nThis week we focus on our Hopes. What do we hope, with our contribution, that the\u00a0new Parish of Wellington South will be? What will it be known for? What will it have\u00a0at its heart and spirit? What is the word or phrase that expresses this for you?\u00a0On this Feast of the Assumption, we reflect that Mary said Yes to being the Mother of\u00a0Jesus. She was instrumental in God\u2019s Plan being fulfilled, bringing Hope to all people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Next week we will bring back all our Hopes, named at St Anne\u2019s, St Bernard\u2019s, St\u00a0Francis de Sales, and St Joseph\u2019s.
