CHARTING THE COURSE
– The Voyage ahead for the Catholic Parish of Wellington South
Beginning Sunday 2 August, the four parishes in the Wellington South Pastoral Area will begin a nine week discernment process, which is tied into our new Parish Vision –
“We are a community of joyful disciples growing together and sharing Christ’s message.”
The process will provide the foundation and direction for the Catholic Parish of Wellington South. It is a time to reflect deeply before we begin the next step of the transition, which involves making decisions around pastoral care, administration, and more for the new Parish.
During each Sunday Mass we will be focusing on and identifying how we come together, how we will be joyful disciples and how we will share Christ’s message. It is important to acknowledge that becoming a new parish means change, which can be difficult and painful.
Each parish community carries a rich history of belonging and we are being asked to set off into the unknown. Acknowledging any fears in prayer, reflection, and listening can lead to a greater place of freedom, to look forward in hope, of how together we find new ways of belonging and solidarity.
Over the next ten weeks at each Sunday mass we will be focussing on and identifying
- How we come together,
- How we be joyful disciples
- How we will share Christ’s message.
Becoming a new parish means change which can be difficult and painful, as each of our faith communities carries rich histories of belonging and we are asked to set off into the unknown.
Acknowledging these fears in prayer, reflection and listening can lead to a greater place of freedom, to look forward in hope of how together we find new ways of belonging and solidarity.
